STEBS Amusement was a legendary dive bar, live music venue and community that existed on this site from 1974-2000. The club hosted many national, regional and local acts including Uncle Tupelo, Flaming Lips, Bo Ramsey, The Nationals and House of Large Sizes. The club was operated during the live music era by Dave Meyer and Sherm McNeal. The interior and exterior of STEBS was painted by Steven Richard (SR) Turner.  Fans who frequented the bar and supported the music are remembered as “Stebites.” STEBS Amusement was an important part of the history of Iowa music and the College Hill neighborhood!
